The hands that work the vines.

We work directly with small, independent winemakers across Türkiye. This season, we are honoured to feature Gürbüz Winery.

Gürbüz Winery

Founded 2015 · Organic · Independent

In the Thrace region of Türkiye, Akin farms his vineyards organically, makes the wines himself, and personally oversees every step from vineyard to bottle. With no marketing or sales team behind him, he runs the entire operation on his own.

Originally trained in physics, Akin followed his passion for wine to California, to UC Davis, where he studied Viticulture and Enology, and then to New Zealand, before returning home to Türkiye to start his own project in 2015.

He works primarily with Anatolian grapes, with a careful hand toward Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah as well. The vineyards are cultivated without chemical treatments and with minimal machinery, relying on manual work and the surrounding ecosystem to keep balance and let the land speak.

"Manual work, the surrounding ecosystem, and the character of the land."

  • Orange

    Sauvignon Blanc & Bornova Misketi

    Orange Wine · Skin Contact

A skin contact pairing of international Sauvignon Blanc with the indigenous, faintly floral Bornova Misketi. Textured and aromatic; a wine that bridges old varietal memory and modern technique.

  • Red

    Kalecik Karası

    Red Wine · Indigenous Anatolian

From the limestone benches of Kalecik, an indigenous variety of bright acidity, fine tannins, and red fruit. Often compared, favourably, to Pinot Noir, though it answers to no one but itself.

  • Red

    Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah

Red Blend · International Varietals, Anatolian Soil

A Thrace grown blend of two travelers, made in Akin's quiet, organic way. Dark fruit and pepper from the Syrah; structure and graphite from the Cabernet. A wine grown in one place, drawing on many.
